·Message from the Chief

mayorThe Richmond Police Department has gained a reputation as a police department that treats people with respect.  As a result the community supports the department as the officers carry out their duties in the community.  Our officers also spend considerable time meeting individuals in the community and getting to know them on a first name basis.

Familiarity and trust have developed into a close working relationship between community members and the police department.  In Richmond each year many crimes are solved as a result of timely reports of suspicious activity by concerned citizens.

Our officers are reminded that racial profiling is illegal and that professionalism and empathy are necessary for the proper delivery of law enforcement services in today’s society.

The Richmond Police Department hires individuals that are interested in being more than just law enforcement officers.  We seek men and women that desire to know and support community members in addition to protecting and serving them.  If you understand the difference, and are interested in a career with an exceptional police department, please take a look at our department.  Make an appointment to visit with the police chief and talk about your future as a Richmond police officer.
